f. All of the above.
From what initially was dubbed as Athletic wear, soon came to light as associated with dominatrix & eluded towards are much more sexual connotation. The curve-hugging latex bodysuit screams sexy.
Debuting in the 40’s, Catwoman, previously known as The Cat wore a front-zipped purple catsuit, perfect for crimefighting & even better for one of the most iconic anti-heroes, still relevant today. It comes as no surprise that the catsuit holds its iconic stature till date. In the 60’s French designer André Courreges introduced a collection inspired by Space – Futuristic moon boots, alien-like goggles & a long sleeved one piece. The not-seen before one-piece bodysuit was a confirmation of the move towards women’s changing role in society, opening the space-ship door to a cultural movement.
A saree, pantsuit, smokey eyes & a figure hugging catsuit are just a few things that make me feel powerful & confident. A catsuit is where edgy & chic meet, converse & result in form fitting unitards embodying the Azzedine Alaïa 1991 Fall/Winter era of animal print bodysuits.
I hope to see more catsuits styled up in long trench coats & red cowboy boots.
