Is there more or are we all tired?

I’m not sure if this concept exists but I feel Fashion Fatigue should be a new term coined in twenty-twenty-one. I speak for myself when I say I am exhausted. Not exhausted in life per say, but with finding clothes that I actually like & would need for when freedom day is announced ( I am currently in lockdown till the end of September ). The last time a purchase was made specifically for clothes, was on the twenty-eighth of May, I had purchased two pair of leggings from SKIMS.

Its not necessary that I need new clothes right now, because currently my outfit cycle consists of workout clothes, day pajamas & evening pajamas & an occasional puffer jacket to shake things up. When I feel the need to look for some much needed outfit inspiration, I go where every rational human being would go – the ‘gram!

Like clockwork, I thumb through my feed & of late, have left feeling uninspired. Maybe its the oversaturation of recent ‘trends’ or the fact that I am in lockdown but on a personal front I feel a certain disconnect from brands who are trying to relate to a consumer who is looking to spend their hard, well-earned disposable income. Realistically, I can’t keep up with seasonal outfits, so I look for all season round dresses, high-waisted pants, breezy kurta-pajama sets & throwing in a an electric blue dress with green flowers, just to keep things interesting. Of course the problematic nature of fast-fashion is always making headlines & hauls have their own topic of discussion, but if you buy things, re-invent them & keep them till they are no longer hanging by a thread, cuts out the topic fast fashion right? To an extent yes.

If you were or are a seasonal shopper you would soon come to know the brand that makes the perfect pair of bootcut jeans, that sit perfectly on your waist, or find the perfect white cotton kurta that goes with any jewelry. Every individual has there own fashion spectrum, where lies your style, sustainability viewpoint & most importantly confidence meter. The roles clothes play in wardrobe, have more impact than you think. No need to shop for more but to make it into something new.
