How To Pack: An Exert from my suitcase

What seems like an extreme sport is also a matter of immense joy. Packing a suitcase(s) for a domestic trip involves finding “inspiration” outfits on Instagram, finding every new piece of clothing from my wardrobe, making an extensive list to ensure only the essentials are packed & lastly overpacking to the point where you have back-up outfits, incase of a vibe change.

Lets rewind to the pre-pre-packing process. In most cases outfits are planned based on weather, scheduled events, “new” purchases & concoction of items that I generally would not wear on a regular basis but somehow convince myself I could put together an absolute banger of an outfit. My room now looks like it has clothes confetti sprawled in every corner & I have two bikinis packed for a trip, where the closest beach is 85KM. It is an essential.

You say over-packer, I say over-prepared. It’s not that I am indecisive, its the fact that I am an ‘I have an outfit for every scenario’ type of girl. What if its a torrential wind storm & I have to go out to get milk, I would of-course need a puffer jacket, boots & a turtle neck. I’m a big picture thinker who likes to pack for realistic & unrealistic situations, which means I’m on the cusp of strategic packing. I may not sound like the best packer but here is a realistic packing list for a four-day trip:

The foolproof method is to pack outfits that make you feel good. Getting ready on a holiday shouldn’t be troublesome but rather fun & easy. Or here is a simple math equation you can try:

number of days travelling x 2.5 = optimal number of outfits

Don’t be afraid to three-peat an outfit. Clothes are meant to be re-worn.
