Have we exhausted the corporate world?

Packing for a work trip is almost as chaotic as watching The Lizzie Maguire Movie as a twenty-nine year old on a Saturday night and realising Lizzie was at the epitome of her ‘cool girl’ era. This is what dreams are made of (If you know, you know)

Getting to crux of the matter is that my everyday work outfits are a level below basic – easy, comfortable, practical and warm enough to battle office building AC temperatures. When I had to pack for a work trip, I knew I wanted to be first and foremost comfortable, yet still effortless. Personally, I don’t have a separate space for ‘work’ outfits, I truly believe everything you own doesn’t have to be transfixed to a certain occasion. Every piece of clothing can and should be fluid.

Given the fluidity of my closet, I pulled a few pieces out and categorised them in the following:

  1. Essentials: pj’s, trackies, hoodie, a couple of stray bodysuits, jeans, a kurta and workout clothes
  2. Dinner/ night out: jumpsuits, shirts, high-waisted pants, blazers
  3. Work day: black and grey smart ankle pants
  4. Cold weather: puffer jacket, plaid oversize jacket and a fluffy fleece jacket
  5. Shoes: combat boots, kitten heels, sneakers and ballet flats

The more I ponder on the outfits this list has produced, the more I feel I am currently living through my ‘normcore but not so normcore era’. Its a mixture of neutrals with rejection of extravagant.

This look is I like to call is Tips on having a Fiancé: Steal their shirts. Classic high-waisted pants, kitten heels and gold hoops:

Shirt: Ralph Lauren. Pants: Glassons

I’m a huge advocate on wearing Kurta’s on a regular basis:

Jeans: Levis. Kurta: House Of Masaba. Blazer: Na Nin Vintage

A utility jumpsuit for the perfect dinner and theatre look. Layered over a black turtle neck.

Jumpsuit: General Pants. Turtle neck: Uniqlo. Boots: Cai Store

A day of emails, cupcakes for lunch and again taking advantage of my fiancés shirts:

Shirt: Peter Jackson. Vest: Universal Store. Pants: Uniqlo

Another jumpsuit I am emotionally connected to:

Bodysuit: General Pants

Do people still use the word Corporate chic? or are we embracing the term business as casual?
